Japanese Music Poster Scrap is the official catalog of an exhibition of Japanese city pop posters, drawn from the collection of Yasushi Ide. It shows 238 plates of posters, flyers and other printed pieces from the scene. The subjects are city pop, AOR, island music and fusion, with techno and new wave in the frame too. The book treats this printed material as an archive of the music and the moment it came from. Japan's new music took shape from the 1970s on, centered on Tokyo, and the graphics carry that history as much as the records do. It works as a reference for collectors and designers, or as a coffee table book you'll pick up again.
