The Kalt Shoes are technically hiking boots, from Ranra, a London and Reykjavik studio that designs around movement and environment. They are cut low, with a rubber toe cap, a chunky lugged sole and round black laces. The upper pairs black suede with a darker textile panel, so the whole shoe reads as one tone.
They sit at the ankle, which keeps the shape compact. Wide trousers can fall straight over the top, as shown here with a lace-trimmed pair.
Wear them dressed up or down. With tailored trousers they add some weight to a smart outfit. With work pants or denim they do what a hiking boot should.
